Quiet Life is the album that transformed Japan from past-tense glam rockers into futuristic synth popsters, though they'd been leaning in that direction for a while. It's also a solid proto-New Romantic synthesizer record, enhanced by Mick Karn's superb fretless bass work and David Sylvian's smooth, sneering vocals spread over pop hits like the /5(81).

Oct 25, · It's fabulously well produced and starts off with the super bouncy `Quiet Life' track which has great synth playing accompanied by the catchiest chorus line on the album. After this though the mood pretty much mellows out and everything is either mid-tempo (In Vogue.

Feb 23,  · Currently enjoying the below variant via my Hansa Germany cd, sounds great. (Quote) The band originally intended for the track listing to be 1) All Tomorrow's Parties, 2) Fall in Love with Me, 3) Alien, 4) Quiet Life, 5) The Other Side of Life, 6) Despair, 7) In Vogue, 8) Halloween, 9) A Foreign Place, and the notes in the CD cover booklet of the remastered edition suggest that.

Personally, I like to have my supplemental (b-sides, versions, non-album tracks) divided out after their parent albums. In order to have all the officially released Japan material, you NEED to buy the compilation albums "Assemblage", "In Vogue", and "Exorcising Ghosts". That isn't to say this isn't a great and cohesive album on its own merit!/5(15).
